The Caribbean manatee is a marine mammal that is not aggressive in water. They are related to elephants and walrus. Caribbean manatees have paddle like tails so they can swim gracefully in the waters. Manatees have strong tails. In the water Caribbean manatees swims up to 50 miles. Their nicknames are sea cows but their scientific names are Trichechus. Normally they weigh around 1,000 pounds but they can weigh up to 3,000 pounds. Its average length of this animal is nine to ten feet. It can be as long as thirteen feet. When it is born the Caribbean Manatee weighs 40 pounds in a year but, it weighs about 700 pounds.
